Glow Your Skin Safely With A Sunless Tanning Lotion

By Haywood Hunter

Using self tanners offers a safe alternative to tanning beds and sunbathing. Exposing skin to harmful radiation from UV light causes serious body skin problems such as cancer. Tan beds are also not so safe for your skin. However when you consider using a sunless tanning lotion, you keep away from these dangerous tan procedures. As much as people want to glow their skin and obtain a gorgeous look, they should make sure they do it safely.

The good thing is that many products have been developed including sprays, lotions, creams, and mousses that can transform the skin. The products contain an active ingredient known as dihydroxyacetone which when it penetrates the skin reacts with the amino acids to change the look of dermis. It is a process that has to be done properly failure to which the results may look undesirable.

Some products can last for up to a week or so and will not fade easily. Tanner lotions are made using a compound known as dihydroxyacetone which gives a fake tan on skin. The compound reacts with amino acids in skin to give it the glowing look. Basking in sunlight exposes the skin to serious conditions like cancer.

Tan beds are also not safe since some of the UV light they produce could be damaging. The only safer option which people can have is by using the self tanning products. Nonetheless, people may find difficulties in applying these products. There are certain procedures if not followed could lead to unimpressive tints.

As the skin cells age, they are deposited on surface of dermis. They can accumulate on surface and form dry patches. If they are not cleaned and removed, they will prevent the infiltration of tan into skin. Moreover, you also need to exfoliate skin using non-oil based exfoliators. After you have taken a shower, allow the body to dry before you put a tan.

Moreover, the body should be cleaned properly so that debris like dead skin, salts, and dirt are removed. For a tan to adhere properly on dermis, the surface should be cleaned properly. It not only opens up pores for easy penetration of tan but also ensures even distribution. Use of gloves is essential to prevent the palms of hands from tinting or staining.

Ensure you dry the body after you have taken a shower before you use a tanning product. If you leave moisture on skin and apply your lotion, it may be diluted and drip over skin leading to strange marks. Moreover, shave the hair on body parts like the chest for better results. Hair is likely to trap the tan and make it cause orange look on some parts.

Such inconsistencies in tanning will eventually produce undesirable effects. Some skin such as the facial part may require a lighter shade when compared to other body parts. Alternatively, you may want to apply one layer of tan on facial skin against two layers of same tan on other body parts. This is because facial skin absorbs substances faster than the other parts.
