Important Life Lessons Acquired From Job Embedded Professional Development

By Robert Cooper

Presently, the number of students have risen compared to the past. These days, education is highly important and even those who cannot afford it will strive to be able to enroll themselves in their preferred school or college. As a result of this demand, the demand in teachers has risen as well. Even though there are a lot of teachers now, it does not necessarily equate to a lesser quality. That is because there are numerous workshops that aid in helping them improve.

As a result, there are numerous workshops available that will focus on improving certain skills and qualities that teachers already possess. One of those workshops is called Job Embedded Professional Development, and these workshops are known for their effectiveness. While learning the necessary skills is important, teachers also learn some essential life lessons that go along with their line of work.

Sometimes referred to as JEPD, this kind course has been developed for a while now. However, there are some changes that have been applied to it to help in maintaining its application in the modern world. Mentors who have undergone this training method will learn many things, which are applicable not just in a school setting.

Being a teacher means dealing with a variety of students, and each one is different and unique in their own way. Their upbringing has a number of factors, and this can affect their personality and the way they learn new things. Being their mentor means knowing how to interact with each personality type, so you can teach them better.

Following this logic, it will also teach you the importance of patience and understanding. Remember, all mentors were once students in their youth. Being one in the past, you must understand their daily struggles. Sometimes, it is better to be patient and understanding, to avoid giving them a harder time in their learning stage.

An essential quality that all teachers should possess is compassion. Without it, there is no heart when it comes to teaching new and interesting topics. Even though you are only their mentor, it is still part of your scope to help them in any way you can in their education.

As their mentor, it is your responsibility to exercise fair judgment when it comes to their grades on the report card. Remember, being just is something that children observe and take from the adults that surround them. By exercising fair judgment in grades, students will learn the importance of hard work and not taking things for granted. By showing you are enforcing this quality you are teaching them a valuable lesson in life. Sometimes, you have to fail in order to truly learn.

Communication is highly important when it comes to this line of work. By honing your communication skills, you are able to teach better and relate to these children. Being open is also a key factor in these children giving you their trust when it comes to teaching them important subjects in the curriculum.

Even though being a mentor means being highly knowledgeable in certain subject matters, the learning process does not stop there. By enrolling yourself in JEPD courses, you are not only improving yourself, but the quality of teaching that pupils will receive from you. While the necessary skills are important, it is also detrimental to put in personal efforts to help further the quality of education.
